Students are no strangers to having to defend their work, passions, and choices. The need to critically argue for or against a particular topic is one that appears in the engineering discipline as well. It is an essential skill to be able to evaluate and effectively communicate an analytical point of view.
Under a given time constraint, competitors must develop a coherent and logical argument on an assigned subject matter. Subjects for debate will relate to the fields of engineering and science, or those that is within relation or interest pertaining to engineers and engineering students. Competitors are recommended to have a broad knowledge of engineering concepts and their impact on society, and have an ability to rationalize decisions quickly and concisely. Each team will be judged based on their own arguments, rebuttals, and professionalism during the debate.
Competitors in all years of engineering studies are eligible for participation.
