In 1985, the first Canadian Federation of Engineering Students (CFES) Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC) was held in Waterloo, Ontario. Since its establishment, the conference was evolved to convene over 200 of the brightest engineering students from across the country. This year, for the first time, Winnipeg will proudly host the 36th Canadian Engineering Competition and will showcase what the city has to offer.
The competition has grown to 8 unique events that push competitors’ analytical skills and challenge them to develop unique solutions to the prevalent issues of today. Students competing at CEC must first succeed in their respective home school competitions, then advance through their regional qualifiers (Western, Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic).
CEC is a proudly bilingual competition. Through interpretation, CEC facilitates an equal opportunity for all students to compete in their choice of either official languages. Bilingualism creates an inclusive environment for all competitors to to feel comfortable and perform to the best of their abilities.
